Meetup attendees suggested the following locations. We're shooting for something in Seattle that fits up to 200 people. Participants, please add or edit as you see fit, star whatever you think is a great idea, and sign your name and put notes under anything you think you could help get:
- Kane Hall, UW
- Could take three weeks to secure (can't advertise during those three weeks)
- Prices range from $50-100/hour with UW sponsorship, $75-175/hour without sponsorship
- Sponsorship would require signature by UW dean or chair -- talk to Kathy Gill, who is a lecturer in Comm Dept
- Seattle Art Museum
- Auditorium seats 293; total charge $1450
- "We recommend reserving your date as soon as possible; however, we can accommodate events with as little as two weeks' notice."
- SAAM auditorium seats 219; total charge $900
- Seattle Public Library
- Preferably the Microsoft Auditorium
- Suggested this could be low to no cost
- 30 day turnaround on securing
- Microsoft Auditorium is $1000 for a weeknight, but much lower for weekend days ($375 full / $750) and daytime events ($325 half/$650 full)
- Town Hall Seattle
- Suggested this could be low to no cost -- most suitable is probably downstairs
- The Experience Music Project
- Sky Church or JBL would be great, with the advantage of the nearby bar.
- The Egyptian Theater
- Frye Art Museum
- Any of Seattle's community centers
- Hugo House
- The Wamu Theater -- this is gigantic, right?
- Neumo's
- Youngstown Cultural Center
- Only seats 100 according to Tracy
- The Adobe Center
- Suggested this could be low to no cost (if we can find an Adobe employee to sponsor)
- Some auditorium at Microsoft
- Other UW rooms -- HUB?
- Seattle Times Auditorium
- Seats about 200 according to Mark Matassa
- Would be appropriate and ironic to have it at the Times
- Rainier Club suggested by a coworker of mine. They are a member and said they THOUGHT they could negotiate a deal (Susie Rantz, GMMB)
